Photo by Fey Marin on Unsplash From Prabhakar: Not willing to take the news of the passing away of my senior Sriram Athri, I took out my cell phone and called his number... Jaishree, his wife confirmed of Sriram's demise a month ago, after his very bravely fighting cancer for two years. Athri was very active in conducting personality development seminars which he continued doing until the time his health permitted. The family and the family doctor were tracking the advancement of the cancer and were dreading the physical pain and the cruel suffering this disease inflicts patients in the terminal stages. Sriram was cheerful until the last day and never let the family suffer witnessing his succumbing to pain and debility. While I grieve my friend's death, I take comfort that Sriram lived a graceful life and did show us a model of a graceful departure. May you Rest in Peace, friend, mentor, MCC luminary alumnus - Sriram Athri

Their woes began when their friends, the 'not so early birds' strolled inside the mess... For it was an accepted norm for these new entrants - to stop and say hi to you, and start helping themselves to the entreating podimas served to you just then. (a double thakali juice podimas would put you down by Rs 1.75 then). I remember one day trying to deter this theft of valuables by quickly burying the scrambleware under some pieces of parotta soaked in mutton chalna. To my dismay all this precaution was of little help...
